The new year is not even here, and it will take a little time before all of the 2023 festivals and events are posted.
Until Allyson has all of the dates and times for her Ren Faires and other events, this list will be a bit elastic.
Please be patient, and check back often to see what new events have been added!

The New Hampshire Renaissance Faire
Martin Road, Freemont NH
May 13, 14, 20, 21, 2023, 10am - 5pm

The New Hampshire Renaissance Faire is back, and ready to transport you back in time to the days of yore! Allyson works the Faire as a volunteer coordinator, but can occasionally be found at the encampment of the Brotherhood of the Arrow and Sword, cooking and having fun with everyone. We hope to see you all there!

The Vermont Renaissance Faire 
80 Weeks Hill Road, Stowe, VT
June 24-25, 2023, 10am - 6pm

The Vermont Renn Faire is a fantastically fun frolic for the family! Come on out and find Allyson doing medieval cooking demos and selling her cookbooks for all who want one. The Brotherhood will be fighting and doing displays of armor, archery, and daily life.

Great NorthEastern War (SCA event)
Hebron Pines RV & Golf, 400 Buckfield Rd., Hebron, ME
July 13-16

This event is generally for SCA members, though anyone with a willingness to follow the rules is welcome to come. You can find the official event listing here, and the official website here (currently not up to date, it's early days). Most of Serenity (my Viking household) will be attending GNEW, and it's a lot of fun. There'll be food, carousing, events, classes, court, chivalry, and friendship!

Come one, come all, to the Maine Renaissance Faire! Allyson will be encamped with the Brotherhood again, and will provide cooking and living demos along with the displays of arms and armor, and medieval living that the Brotherhood provides. Please visit us to say hello!

The Massachusetts Renaissance Faire

August 5, 6, 12, 13, 2023

MARF is a fun fair, full of flights of fantasy! Come visit and see live steel fighting, jousting, and some amazing music and entertainment. Allyson will be camped with the Knights of Lord Talbot, providing food and cooking demos, as well as selling her book. Drop by and say g'day!

Auburn Duck Race Day

Sept 9th, 10am - 3pm

This will be Allyson's third year at Duck Race Day, and she's excited! Put on by the Auburn NH Historical Society, Duck Race Day is a fund raiser, town fair, craft day, and history lesson all thrown together with an amazing set of food vendors, and their very own Author Alley, where you can meet and schmooze with local authors and publishers! 

Allyson will be presenting 18th century cooking at this year's event, so come on down and see something a little different!

Iron Gate Exhibition (HEMA)

This is a new event for Allyson! She will be joining HEMA for the Iron Gate Exhibition from September 22nd to 24th, 2023. She is an amateur food historian, a cook, and an author with a strong interest in historical foods. Her specialties are in 14th and 15th century common meals, and 18th century American cooking.

At the Iron Gate Exhibition, you will find Allyson dressed in the 15th century attire of a working woman for a land owner of the time. She will be putting on a cooking demonstration while preparing food for those who will be fighting in the competition. Her recipes and cooking techniques will be from the late 14th and early to mid 15th century, based around the Hundred Years War. 

Allyson will also be presenting a talk on common foods and spices of the 14th and 15th centuries, and how they were blended to create the recipes we currently have. She'll discuss the difference between historically accurate dishes and historically plausible ones, and when it's appropriate to use one over the other. She'll also be offering a recipe for pottage for participants to take home and try themselves. She'll discuss how central pottage was to the medieval diet, and how it turned into well known food items of today.
